MELB CBD 3000

From our place in the heart of the CBD, Supernormal is only a short walk or tram ride from many of our favourite Melbourne places to be, see and do. We’ve put together our highlights, our ‘must visits’ you might say, for when you’re next in town.

What to see:

Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA)
An architectural icon in itself, ACCA’s Southbank home is a building as sculpture. What lies within, is a centre dedicated to working with leading Australian and international artists to commission new work, and produce ambitious exhibitions, publications and digital initiatives.
11 Sturt St, Southbank 3006

The Forum
Is there anywhere more Melbourne to see live events than The Forum? Under the watchful eye of its ominous gargoyles, bands, singers, comedians and movies, have graced the venue since its opening in 1929. With The Forum’s intimate shows almost always selling out, it’s always good to keep up to date with their schedule here.
154 Flinders St, Melbourne 3000

National Gallery of Victoria (NGV)
A vast array of treasures, rotating seasonal masterpieces and some of Australia’s (and the world’s) most significant art can be found across the National Gallery of Victoria’s two sites. Wander the latest exhibition, gaze upon a Rothko or McCubbin in the permanent collection, refuel with a high tea, and make sure you leave time for the gift shop.
180 St Kilda Rd, Melbourne 3006

Anna Schwartz Gallery
Anna Schwartz Gallery is located just across the laneway from us and is the perfect destination to visit before or after lunch. Since 1986, they have been identifying and cultivating the careers of visionary artists from Australia and internationally.
185 Flinders Ln, Melbourne 3000

Where to eat and drink:

Apollo Inn
An intimate cocktail bar located just across the lane from us, Apollo Inn is an ode to the ageless art of the cocktail, the bar, the bartender and the drinker. Start with a Picon Bière and stay for a Lucien Gaudin and créme caramel.
165 Flinders Lane, Melbourne 3000

Flower Drum
Is there a venue in Melbourne that’s seen more birthdays or celebrations? We think not.  Since 1975, has been cooking exceptional classic Cantonese dishes from the centre of Chinatown. Jason Lui and his team know how to deliver.
17 Market Lane, Melbourne 3000

Tipo 00
Perch on a stool, glass of wine in hand and a plate of Moreton Bay bug spaghetti in front of you. What could be better? Three Vue de Monde alums started Tipo 00 back in 2015, and it quickly became one of all Melbournian’s go-to pasta destinations.
361 Little Bourke St, Melbourne 3000

Kafeneion
A destination for late-night eats. Now located at the Melbourne Supper Club, Kafeneion serves home-style Greek fare with a supper menu that runs from 10pm until 1am. You’ll make friends with dishes old and new, from tzatziki and cod roe to braised beef cheek and sweetbreads.
Level 1, 161 Spring St, Melbourne 3000

Embla
Our tip? Order a glass to keep you company while you try to pick a bottle from a wine list full of deep cuts and hard-to-find drops. With a focus on all things fermented and flame-grilled, you’re in for a special experience at Dave Verheul’s city wine bar.
122 Russell Street, Melbourne 3000
