Supernormal Brisbane

The Trader House team is thrilled to announce that Supernormal will open at 443 Queen Street, Brisbane CBD, in Cbus Property’s world-class residential tower, which is scheduled for completion in 2023.

It’s in a prime position on the riverfront between Eagle Street Pier and the Howard Smith Wharves and will provide world-class inner-city residential living with views of the Brisbane River and the iconic Story Bridge.

Andrew McConnell is enthusiastic to open his first restaurant outside of his home city of Melbourne:

“There is a special combination of relationship, location, environment and architecture at 443 Queen St that we are seriously excited to be a part of,” he said. “For the past seven years, we’ve welcomed many interstate and international guests to Supernormal in Melbourne. Now, we look forward to contributing to Brisbane’s already growing and vibrant food scene. There’s also a bounty of some of the country’s best produce available. What a thrill to be able to explore this as we refine our offering. “

While still in the early conceptual stages, Andrew has again engaged the architectural and interior design services of Vince Alafaci and Caroline Choker of Sydney’s ACME to bring Supernormal to life. ACME collaborated with Andrew on the design of Gimlet at Cavendish House – a cocktail bar and dining room that recently placed at #84 in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants annual longlist.

The restaurant will seat around 120 guests with the addition of alfresco and private dining. An exciting opportunity to explore local produce and connect with Queensland’s farmers, fishers and foragers, the menu will centre around a contemporary Australian offering with influences drawn from Andrew’s time living and working in Hong Kong and Shanghai.

Pristine local seafood will sit amongst Supernormal classics and new dishes informed by the richness of Queensland’s diverse harvest.

Supernormal is due to open in Brisbane in summer 2023 and will be open seven days a week for all-day dining, lunch and dinner.
